Rumour has it that dvd+r is supposed to be more technologically advanced.
But dvd-r is cheaper and very compatible.
All depends what your dvd writer can write to.

Will DVD+r give you a better quality picture and sound, or is there any reason to use them at all if your player can use both.

In my opinion, no!

Can't see the point really, they're just more expensive. Stick to dvd-r.

cltcam, I first got some Memorex (DV+R) for 25$ cause I was being a tite-wad trying to save some money. Had lots of problems and lots of coasters. After reading some posts on this forum, I went out and got some Verbatim Datalifes and it's been smooth sailing from then. I remember one of the mods saying that they only use -R media and so far that's worked for me. Also I looked (after the fact) at the data sheet of my DVD burner, they showed the recommended media, and it was the media that everybody else has mentioned(taiyo yuden, ritek, verbatim). Hope this helped.
