I'm trying to backup a DVD I have (Office Space) using Windows Media Encoder. I've followed online tutorials, and most of them say to use SmartRipper. Since Windows Media Encoder does not directly support DVD rips, I did Stream Processing to only take the video stream, the 2ch audio stream, and the Other stream (I've also tried it without the "Other" stream). I then disabled file-splitting, so it outputted into one large .VOB file.

I ripped the DVD. No errors occur. I then renamed the .VOB file to .MPG and open it in Windows Media Player (a step that most tutorials say to try). It plays, but the strange thing is that the total time is off. The DVD is supposed to be 1:29 or so, but WMP shows it as about 0:53. I then tried to play the DVD on my laptop while playing the VOB file on my desktop. It seems that the timer goes slower for the VOB file. This isn't too much of a problem, because Windows Media Encoder will keep going after the "Total Time" of the file if there's data.

The other problem is that there are a few audio skips every once in a while. E.g. at the end Milton should say "Big grains of salt!", but instead it sounds like "Big Grai alt". I haven't found any others (haven't watched it all the way through).

The last problem is really the show-stopper for me. Is there something I'm not setting in SmartRipper (I also tried the same thing in DVD Decrypter)? Is the DVD dirty (I've cleaned it manually a few times).
