hi,
I guess your tired of those ritek questions but I want to make sure that I won't have any problems with ritek G04. Many people say that ritek G04 is one of the best medias but some people are having problems with it and I dont want to be part of them.
My burner is an: LG GSA-4081B
I want to use ritek G04 for playstation 2 and for burning episodes such as .avi and .ogg files.

I'm not sure if I undestood what you said. Are you saying that you searched for other posts by me but you found none? If so, then its true. This is my first post but the reason why I said another question about ritek is because many people are asking about ritek questions.

No, I meant, I looked over your post, on this thread, and saw no question.
I use ritek's ridata, without fail on avi's iso's vob's etc. without a problem.I dont have a ps2, so I cant help you on that.

lol true, my question wasn't clear enough. I would like to know if I will counter any problems when burning ritek G04 with my LG GSA-4081B? I usually burn playstation 2 games and .avi, .ogg,...(Divx?) files.
You answered one of my questions but is your burner an LG GSA-4081B ? Do you suggest me to buy the silver/frosted topped Ritek G04 disks with the dark purple bottom or the red and white wrapped Ridata branded Ritek?
Did I understood right that Ridata are the best ritek media because when its Ridata then its guarnteed that its Grade A but when its not then it might be grade B or below?

I use the branded ridata,but its out of stock on meritline.
Ive heard those horror stories about the purple wrapped ridata's,but Ive used those for months without a problem.Ive heard about them being returned merchandise from office max,but ritek doesnt sell to office max so those stories are B.S.
You want the media I.D go4 or ricoh these are A grade.The shiny or matte makes no difference,its a matter of preference.

about the horrible stories, you mean with the purple wrapped ridata right? Because I want to buy the red & white one, heres a picture of it:
I want to buy it from blankmedia.ca because I live in Canada so its I still can buy some :)
Just read your edit post, its good to hear that those purple wrapped problems are B.S ...even though I'm not going to buy them anyway :)

Your image didnt show up for me, but the red and white wrapped ridata's are just fine.The color of the wrapper makes no difference imo.

Thank you so much for your help and your time jim, yes you helped me a lot. Now I know almost all the information I need for the ritek g04. Thanks again.
I still need to know if they are also ok with the PS2 but I think that I have to post this in the PS2 section but ill make a search before posting.
Also, I wanted to update the firmware of my dvd burner, because I have A100 but A104 is available. When I read the README file, in the installation instructions, they mention these:
- Connect the drive to the secondary IDE channel as a master drive with
no other devices connected to that channel. Also disconnect any other optical
drives connected to the computer.
Do I really have to disconnect my cdrom from the PC and and the other things they mentionned???!!! (hope not)

I didnt disconnect my dvdrom,but my burner is a tdk so you may want to start another thread with that question.(a bad firmware update can kill your burner)
This thread is at 15 posts and counting(with all my stuttering lol)
You would probably get a faster response with a fresh thread.Its also a good idea, to post your ps2 question on the ps forum because im not a gamer(another fresh thread)this isnt my area of expertise(not that I have one of those areas lol)I just posted the first time to let you know that I couldnt find your question.
Just leave out the questions ive answered so you dont get jumped about double posting.

I have an LG-4040b burner and the Ritek Ridata disks with the purple bottom and the frosted top works well for me. If you buy these disks and they don't work for you I would suggest a firmware update.In my experience that has solved some problems with different kinds of media being recognised. As far as the playstation, I don't have one however the product writeup on meritline does state that it is compatable with ps2. Post back and tell us how you fare.

Your right straubd , I didn't post the results.
I bought the ridata with silver tops and purple bottoms. I didn't upgrade the firmware, so im still at A100 and all I can say is, it's PERFECT, absolutly PERFECT. Until now, I burnt 2 PS2 games and my PS2 read them without any problem (I dont remember at which speed i burnt them, 2X or 4X) and I didn't have any problems burning movies and such things (I burnt the .AVI files at 4X).
So any1 who has an LG GSA-4081 or related, I suggest you buying ridata G04
