I have made a guide for all those that need to know how to backup games like Champions of Norrath or Metal Gear Solid: Substance. You can find it and all the tools at my site:

did u manage to back it up onto 1 dvd-r?

I backed it up to 2 dvd's works great. The original is 8.5Gb so you just split it to two 4.5Gb disks.

Nice to see a fellow New Zealander on the boards! This is my first post, but have been reading this forum for a year.. And I have the Champions of Norath image file backed up on my comp but havnt attempted to burn it yet - so ill check out your guide!

Hey Hops. It worked perfectly for Champions of Norrath. To do other games is just a matter of file arrangement - which files to have on each DVD.
