Power DVD won't play

Whenever my friend puts a disc into his DVD player (internal PC) it starts up and then gives this message: "This disk is inhibited from playing because of area limit" I have no idea what that means. He has about 17Gigs of free space on his hard drive.

PowerDVD V4 for XP
1.6 Gig CPU, Win XP Pro. Not sure on the Ram but I know it is DDR.

Can someone offer some advise. I think that this is the right forum. I am still a newbie after all.
