Hey everybody,

Just trying to wrap my brain around a problem I'm having with Vegas Video 4.0. I wasn't having this problem with 3.0 but ever since I upgraded I haven't been able to record audio quite the way I use to.

When I record audio (MIDI or otherwise, but for this example we'll talk external instrument plugged into my Soundblaster Audigy Platinum's 1/4" input) there is a delay in the audio from when the instrument is actually played and when Vegas Video digests the audio and plays it back.

My sound card plays the audio back instantly so the effect sounds more like a delay effect (for anyone familiar with recording and performing audio).

I checked my Vegas Video preferences under "Audio Device" and my playback buffering is set to .35 seconds. Obviously this part of the problem but when I try setting it to, say .1, the only audio I get out of Vegas Video is static. I can set the playback buffer as high as 1 second but of course all that does is increase the time it takes for Vegas to digest the audio and increases "echo" time.

Why this is a problem - I can't listen to an already recorded track and record a new track in realtime; the new track is always off by .35 seconds!

Any suggestions from anyone? Am I missing something that should be set differently in my Preferences? Perhaps the audio device? Maybe a workaround for the problem? Somebody please let me know.
