I downloaded a movie and its a avi file i want to burn it into a cd-r. I tried to use nero but i cant i want to know if i can use a different progam other than Nero. Thanks

What part of Nero were you using? Burning ROM or Nero Vision?

Why exactly was it not working?

Any specific errors?

Some considrations:

(1) there is already an Afterdawn's (S)VCD Forum for this. This is a CD-R Forum and your questions + our answers couldn't be seen by other people having similar problems
(2) an .AVI needs you have a proper Codec to DECode it (that is, to see it, but if you see it on your PC, e.g. on WMP, ll should work fine...)
(3) I find Nero a lame VCD application - VCDEasy and VCDGear are much better
(4) often you need to encode a video first, using TMPGenc [e.g. if the movie is PAL and you have a NTSC movie or if the resolution is 640x420 and a VCD is 358x240 (352x288 if PAL)]. It's much better than
(A) encode a proper .MPG first, after decoding the .AVI (with TMPGenc and the codecs you've installed on your PC), then
(B) create a VCD image (with VCDEasy, VCDGear)then
(C) burn it, than doing this process:
(lame.a) decode a movie from the .AVI format +
(lame.b) encode a movie to a VCD's NTSC/PAL .MPG +
(lame.c) burn the .MPG to a CD to create a VCD
simultaneously.
