XVID 2nd Pass Settings

Just after a bit of advice on the 2nd pass settings for the XVID codec. Im converting DVD's into XVID to play on a PC and I want the best possible quality for the XVID file. I was wondering if anyone had any experience on the difference between making the file fit on 3CD's or 2CD's(as per the guide). Id prefer to have larger files which are better quality than smaller files not quite as good?

Any opinions / thoughts would be muchly appreciated.

Depends on the compressibility of the movie. If the movie is highly compressible then the codec will likely max out well before reaching the 3 CD size limit. That means the best quality file will have a file size of less then 3 Cd's (2100 MB). That means the difference between a 2cd and 3cd rip is probably minimul and not worth the extra 700MB. Use Gordian Knot to run compressibility checks to give you a better idea of the compressibility given a 1, 2 or 3 cd rip.
