Hi!

I've just bought a DVD-player, Pioneer DV-470. It's an excellent player. It played everything I threw into it so far, and DivX support is priceless!

But there is one thing I'm wondering about. You see, this is my first time ever I buy a stationary DVD-player, so I want to check things out to make sure everything is in order.

Here is the thing. When I play a DVD, this player makes at random points very quiet squeeling sounds while playing the disc. This can be heard only during night, when everything is so quiet around you so it's easier to hear low freq. sounds. These sounds don't persist all time, but rather show up at random points (mainly during first 20-30 minutes of a movie). This only happens when playing DVDs. When I play DivX CD-Rs, or Audio CDs, or (S)VCDs, I can't hear anything.

Is this normal, or is a DVD-player supposed to be 100% quiet during operation (just like CD-players usually are) ? I would like to hear especially from those people who actually have this player.

Also, is there a region-hack avaiable anywhere?
