hi i recently installed a dvd + r combo drive i have managed to burn a movie but it wont play on my dvd for the tv. i used a program called cheetah to finally get it to burn. i tried nero but it always tells me to put in a blank media when there is one in already . i dont have a clue as to how to burn a dvd so it will play in my dvd player. needless to say this is really frustrating. so any help would be greatly appreciated

not sure but it could be that your dvd player does not pplay dvd+r disks. i may be totally wrong on this but just check with the manufacturer or play the disk in your friends dvd player...
if nothing works this would:
dvd burner for dvd-r and DVD Shrink , all you have to do is to put the original dvd and you got yourself a dvd that will play any plaer even in a different region as the copy will be region free
good luck

angelluv,

What O/S are you running? And are you using NTFS file system or FAT32?

Also you can check you standalones compatibility here:
http://www.videohelp.com/dvdplayers

What brand of media are you using? And do the backups play on your pc?

angelluv,

Ok ... do this first.

1) Make your dvd burner the master drive, and put the dvd-rom as the slave on the same ide cable. Remove the cd burner

2) Download and install a "working" aspi layer
http://forceaspi18.w.interia.pl/
Directions on the site. Download both Force 1.8 and ASPI Check. I run KILLASPI then INSTASPI, reboot, then run aspi check ... all dll's should read 4.71.2

3) If you don't have it already, get DVD Shrink (free):
http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/dvd_rippers/dvd_shrink.cfm

4) You have Nero ... What version, 5 or 6? And, is it the full version or OEM?

5) Did you install Nero's InCD? If yes, REMOVE IT!!

6) You really should switch from FAT32 to NTFS, especially if your using XP.

7) IMPORTANT!!: What brand of media are you using?

Please answer and do all of those and get back to us when your done. Thanks.

ok i tried to get the aspi from the link that you sent but it directed me to a page with a foreign language with nothing that you described to get there. i was wrong about running fat32 it is indeed ntsf . the media im using is made by hypermedia. i have set my dvd burner as master and the other as slave.i have uninstalled nero's incd and i have also downloaded DVD Shrink. so the only thing i havnt gotten or done is the aspi thing. and i have Nero 6.

munz - To convert Fat32 to NTFS, you will need to be running windows 2000 or windows XP.

If you are, simply click Start -> Run and type 'CMD' without the 's.

Then from the C:\> type 'CONVERT X: /fs:ntfs' without the 's again, and X being the drive you want to convert. So if you want to convert C type
C:\> CONVERT C: /fs:ntfs
