Power, and HDD cable hookup don't match

I am trying to put an HDD in my PS2 and the power hookup and the IDE cable plug don't seem to be far enough apart, cause they are not matching up to the HDD, there seems to be a little bit more space needed... Any ideas?

you must have a western digital harddrive?
you will need to open your Network Adapter

western digital HDD is the only one (i think) that doesn't fit into the ps2. recommanded Maxtor HDD.
