.mkv to .avi using Vdubmod???

Hi, I have been trying to convert a .mkv file I have to .avi. I was wanting to use Vdubmod for its direct stream copy capability. However, when I try and open the file in Vdubmod it gives me an error saying "Only handle [S_Text/] subs for the moment." Once this error is given it stops loading the video. Is there some way I can get around this? Or maybe someway to take out the subtitles (as I have no use for them) before using Vdubmod? I hope someone can help.
