Hi folks,

I've been happily converting DVDs to VCD for ages now using a combo of PowerDVD, SmartRipped, DVD2AVI, TMPG and Nero.

They all look fantastic when played on the PC and also in my Aiwa DVD system at home. The thing Ive just found out is that all my VCDs wont play properly on my in car system :(

The in car system plays VCDs made by a friend (from their own camcorder footage, not DVDs) but none of mine, so I took a VCD they created and one I created and loaded the AV.DAT file into VirtualDUB to view the file properties.

The main difference I can spot is that with the VCD created by my friend the average bit rate is spot on at 1150Kbps whereas with the VideoCDs created from my rips the bit rate can vary and on one of the VCDs I looked at it was 1136Kbps.

I find this totally strange as I set TMPG to use the VCD PAL setting file and double check the settings before creating the MPG file.

Does anyone have any experience of this or have any advice for me on this problem. I have a feeling Im going to have to re-encode all my VCDs again to play them in the car :( But I dont know how :(
