Ok i'm very new to dvd burning. I would like how you go about making copies of store bought dvd movies. I have read that you need a decrypter to copy these. True?!
If so what programs will help me do this.

I have a Misubishi dvd player model 6030. It does not state in the manual weather or not it will play burnt dvd movies.
What format do most home theater dvd players use dvd + or -?
The burner I just bought is a NEC 3500A
If anyone can give any advice or point me in the right direction, it would very appreciated.
Thanks
Steve

Download DVD Shrink it will rip and compress the dvd files to your hard drive. If for some reason shrink cant open the dvd rip it with decrypter and open the resulting files in shrink. Then burn these files to a dvd disc using Nero for an example or what ever software you might already have that can burn dvd. If you need help there is a guide for DVD Shrink here at afterdawn.

Well you player hasn't been tested with much media.

So with that .. I would recommend Branded Verbatim or Ritek's.

If you don't have Nero, you can burn with DVD Decrypter (But you have to create an ISO with Shrink, because Decrypter will only burn ISO's)

Thanks for your help. Is there anyway to get better quality? The dvd that I burned looks a little grainy?!

Are you using the new Shrink 3.2? And, are you using deep analysis and enchanced quality setting?

yes 3.2. No deep analisys was not an option, it was greyed out. Here is what I did.
1. used decrypter to rip the dvd to files (shrink would not work because of protection on the disc)
2. used shrink to make an iso file.
3. burned with decrypter

How big is the original disc? to find out, put it in your pc and open "my computer".

If it's smaller than 4.36GB, then deep analysis won't be available.

Without the original I'm not sure what more you could try. Can you run it through Shrink and use the Quality Enchancements?

Flip I have one more question about dvd's. A friend of mine gave me a dvd with serveral programs on it. The format he used to burn these is Nero cd image or .nrg. How can I get these programs on a cd, all attemps have failed. I do remember him saying that I need to burn them to a disc as an image. First off what kind of image and can I use Roxio media maker 7?

Doing just a straight disc copy won't work?

Hey

So your saying that the DVD has a .nrg file on it ?

Copy the .nrg file to your Hard Drive, and you will need to open Nero, select open, then find the file and click Open.

It will then ask for a blank CD, and you can then burn it.

I dont use Roxio as it causes too many problems then actually helping, so im not sure if it will burn it, but i doubt it.
