Earlier tonight, I went to a friends place to install a burner I no longer was using. They have a dvd-rom / cd burner in 1 combo. The drive is set to master, the burner we installed is set to slave. So we connect the ribbon cable and power supply to the new burner. Now it is sharing a cable with the dvd combo drive and this one ribbon cable is connected to the mainboard. We put everything back, and start the computer up (XP). A black screen comes up with the prompt "select boot device" - it could have been something different but I'm pretty sure that's what it said. At first I thought it mustn't use the one ribbon cable, so I checked my computer at home, and my dvd burner and cd burner both use theone ribbon cable connected to 1 IDE slot.

Any ideas? Should I go to the bios and select C: as the boot device? I find it hard to belive it threw such a hissy fit at us...
