Hey guys i have a problem. I have a Panasonic D4734S dvd recorder and I want to connect my vcr to it and copy my vhs's over to dvd. The problem is that most of my vhs's are from blockbuster and therefore protected and my recorder is telling me that it is illegal. I can not do this on my computer because it does not have a burner. Is there something I can do so that i can covert these tapes to dvd. any advice would be helpful Thanks.

HI taygolf, You will need a macrovision remover box in the video line to the dvd player. They cost from $50. to $100. The better ones at the higher end of the price scale. Here is a link to one I have read good reports on. I haven't used it myself so read up on it.

http://www.dimax.com.ua.
You will need the PRO version at $79.00

The afore mentioned link http://bestads.com/copy-vhs-to-dvd.html takes you to an ad for DVD Wizard Pro which is one of the biggest scams around. Fortunately none of the links on the page worked so maybe they're out of bussiness.

InterVideo has some software that may be of help. You might have to add a capture card to the PC as well. Capture from a VCR and Record to DVD.

Bigfoot30

Did I hear bigger than a brobear? I'll have to call in 'Copbear' to sort it out.

No problem bigfoot30. We can't check everything before choosing an avatar. I was lucky, no one was using this bear when I chose it. Hope you like the big one. LOL ;)

I also have a set top recorder and had problems copying my copy protected material, until I found on another thread the mention of a little device called
Sima Go DVD. This little box hooks up between your video lines from your vcr or another dvd player and removes the copy protection. I have made back up's of all of my VHS and DVD movies. I got mine from ebay for 41.00. Let me know if this helps :)
