Can't open AVI files in Vegas (xvid, divx, etc.)

I have all the proper codecs installed for xvid, divx, etc. and the files will play in windows media player and other players just fine. I have success importing AVI files into other software programs (winproducer, windows moviemaker, etc.) with no problem but I just can't seem to get Vegas to import them.

Vegas v5.0b
XP Pro
Intel Pentium 4 3.0Ghz w/HT

I have the same problem, dose anyone out there know if it is possiable???

AMD, 2 gigish . . Xp, Geforce4 . .and so on
