Mac DVD drive won't recognize DVD-R

I have a 17-inch Powerbook G4 with a Superdrive. I have Sony DVD-Rs (1x) that were burned awhile ago that were recognized by the superdrive in the past but now, when I insert one of these disks, no DVD icon appears on my desktop and the disk ejects after about 30 seconds. I have tried zapping the PRAM also but it didn't help. Does anyone have this same problem and can anyone help me? Thanks in advance.
