AC-3 Audio help?

I have a video on my computer, the video is in xvid format and the audio is AC-3 format. I converted the movie to svcd and tried burning it but when i played it in my dvd player there was no sound. I think that dvd players do support AC-3 audio format so i don't know why theres no sound. Can somebody pleeaaseee help me out?? Sry if this is the in the wrong section im new here.
