just installed a Neo12 on my V9 PS2... plays PS2 backups fine, but i can't seem to get it to play DVD movies at all. it's my understanding that the modchip needs to be sleeping for non-PS2 DVDs to play, but when the DVD loads i get the red screen telling me to insert a valid PS2 disc. anybody else seen this problem with this chip, or any others? it's great that i can play backups now, but i'd like to be able to play movies as well...

thanks,
jurysch

How to boot DVD movies:

Press EJECT button to switch on the machine.
Insert DVD movie in tray, then press and hold RESET button to switch off machine.
Now hold the RESET button to start up your machine. Only release the RESET button after like 4-5 seconds.

How do you get it to play PS2 backup's. It seems to be a bit hit and miss. If I follow the guides on the internet it can take me about 10 presses of reset to get it to recognise the disc.

Am I doing something wrong?

PupDog44 -- tried that... i also forgot to mention that my tray will no longer close with the EJECT button... no idea why, just have to push it in manually and then hit the EJECT button immediately after, possibly related?

rspyda -- yeah it's definitely not that easy to load up a backup, takes on average 3-4 tries. so far i've found success with opening the tray, close the tray manually (see above) and immediately pressing and holding the EJECT button for 1-2 seconds... i found that if i only pressed (and did not hold) the EJECT button it worked a LOT less often...

These chips are very cheap so I suppose I shouldn't be too suprised when they turn out to be a bit flaky. After spending 3 hours cooking the PS2 amin board with a soldering iron, i was just relieved the console didn't burst into flames when i turned it back on.
