I have a movie downloaded from the net.

According to VirtualDub, this is the info:

VIDEO
frame size = 640x272
decompressor = Xvid MPEG-4 Codec

AUDIO
Sampling Rate =48000
Channels = 2 (Stereo)
Sample precision = 0-bit
Compression = Unknown (tag 2000)
Preload skew = 12000 samples
----
I downloaded the Xvid decoder, and can open the file with Virtualdub.

The problem is that, using a regular viewer, the file cannot be viewed with the Xvid decoder, and when I compress it with another decoder, like DivX 5, there is no sound.

When I try to encode the sound with another encoder I get the following error message:

"The requested audio compression is not compatible with the input format. Check that the sampling rate and channel count of the input match those of the requested format."

---

I have tried several combinations of encoders, and so far, no luck.

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance...

P

So its an audio problem. You might be able to fix this if you have the radium mp3 codec. The radium codec is included in the DivX ;-) MPEG4 Codec release 3.11 alpha codec.

If you notice the "Compression..." is unknown. Is there a way to "remaster" by saving the audio, and re-dubbing?

I also forgot to mention that this file is the first part of a 2 part film. I have not downloaded the second part yet, because I wanted to make sure that it was worth it.

Is it possible that the audio info is in the second part?

Thanks for the help...

I am having this same problem, I downloaded both parts to the movie and neither will work properly. I followed Dela's instructions on another post and was able to use virtual dub to decompress the files and then windows media player would start to play the file like something was there, but there was no sound or video. Same Thing with Realplayer too.

Heh I'm kinda a newbie to all of this so any suggestions would be most helpful =)

You can playback movies with tag 2000 audio in windows media player with the ac3 codec. Download it at http://download.divxmovies.com/ac3codec.zip.
Unfortunately Virtual Dub still doesn't recognize the audio and gives the message mentioned above that the sample rate doesn't match.

Anyone now hoe to fix it?
Cheers!
