DMS3 + test patterns on boot

Just installed the dms3 + and on boot it will give me test patterns i.e crosshatch, colorbars, different colored screens. Also hitting buttons on the controller allows me to switch between patterns? The disc does not try to read at all, yet the laser assem returns to its original position. It also will not let me eject. Anybody else had this?
