Using Movie Maker or WinDV I get choppy playback on miniDV tape.
MM "send to DV", process works very well, remotely controlling the Handycam. The video crossed over, but during playback the screen goes blank then picks up again, repeating to the end of film. 20 Secs of film take 50 secs to record.

Capturing from DCR to computer works fine over the firewire. Great quality picture and sound.

I suspect firewire drivers, or cable, or the Audigy IEEE 1394 ports.

Device Manager:
IEEE 1394 Bus Host Adapter
OHIC Compliant IEEE (provider Microsoft)
Resources - IRQ 11
VIEW/Resources by Connection/IRQ
I notice IRQ 11 is shared with:
(PCI)11 HPT372 UDMA/ATA133 RAID Cntlr
(PCI)11 OHCI Compliant IEEE 1394 Host Cntlr
(PCI)11 Standard Universal PCI to USB Host Cntlr

That might explain delays in transfer.

Q: How may I change the IRQ for the IEEE 1394?

I'm baffled with 6 or 4 wire cables. My firewire cable is 6-ilink to DV. The port on the Audigy front console has a blade with 6 contact points, so I figured 6.

Q: Do I have the right cable?
