On my DVD player, not sure if it's just me but I noticed that +R gives a slight better (brighter and sharper) picture quality than -R. However, whenever I play +R it skips during the last 20-30 mins. of the movie. Is my player not complatible with +Rs or is it the compression? I use shrink, xpress, platinum.

Neither +R nor -R should give a better picture quality than the other. Certainly not brighter anyway. Suggest your player is having difficulties playing the media you're using.
