Hoping someone here will have knowledge of and/or experience with a setup similar to mine.

I'm capturing analogue video to my Compaq Presario laptop. I'm about to retire my ADSXPress USB 2 capture device for an ADVC100, because I'm convinced that firewire is the way to go. Being that the laptop only has one built-in firewire port, I'm contemplating getting a firewire cardbus so I can connect my dedicated external firewire hard drive to one port and the ADVC100 to another.

Can anyone tell me if there are better or worse firewire cardbuses? If a firewire cardbus has two (or three) ports, does each port offer full firewire bandwidth to the component connected to it or is the bandwidth divided in two (or three).

Thanks;

Hank
