It stops spinning once the swap magic disk is loaded.

Slide Card, cheaper and works the same - no point in flip top unless you want to waste your money or just want to have something "diffrent".

I used the slide card and flip-top n' swap method to play my back-ups (on my V.7 PS2). Unofrtunately, none of them worked. I even consulted every post that related to my problems. In the end I was out at least 50$. I was extremely frustrated with all the trial and error I went through. Finally, I decided to go with a mod chip and chose to have it professionally installed for $100 (that's with the chip, installation, and shipping). You can have this done for a little more $ and expose yourself to less frustration. Good luck with your decision!

I say fliptop since it is safer to use than slidecard, and a modchip. The modchip is alright, but the point is how long does it take for a modchip to get outdated.I think a modchip gets outdated really quick making your PS2 pointless. If you are good at soldering then I would say a modchip. If you are just beginning then I would say a fliptop.I have no problems with the fliptop, and I use it alot.I have also used the slidecard, and all it did was screw up my disc tray which I wouldn't recommend to anyone.

flippy toppy, my reason is because some games need the dvdloader with the swapmagic and its alot of things you would have to do that are much easier with the flipp topp

Slide cards only good if you want to try out swaping games, but you ever start backing up alot of games you'll definetly want a flip top.
