I am in the market for a DVD recorder and am a complete novice. I have a couple questions but my most important revolves around recording TV shows to the player.

My TV signal comes from a digital cable box. Is it possible to run the cable through the DVD recorder to record shows and then watch something else on a different channel? Do only some models offer this capibility? If so, what models? Do I always have to be watching what is recording?

Just for the record, I am thinking of this model...

Would it be able to do the above?
Any other reccommendations for a player under $300?

Once again, I'm a novice so any help would be GREATLY appreciated!
