I'm looking for a program that will split and join MPEG2 video, without having to turn it into a DV file and do it in FCP or Quicktime Pro.

Basically, I have an MPEG2 file, which I want to cut out the beginning, a bit in the middle, then I want to re-join the sequence back into one MPEG2 file.

I know there are programs on the PC that can do this like Vdub which use direct stream copy, and I'm just wondering if anyone knows of a program I can do it with on OSX.

Thanks very much for any help.

QuickTime Pro with the MPEG-2 Playback Componet installed is your best option.

Thanks very much, then. I take it then that after I buy an install this, that it will work just like editing a .mov and when I click "save" it will all be one file I can eventually burn onto a DVD?

Thanks again.

With the MPEG-2 componet installed you can open it in QT and export it as QT movie (.mov) and then edit it. Once you are finished you can export the movie back to mpeg-2.
