Kiiro X8 region compatibility problems

I have a Kiiro X8 DVD player that was I bought from Amazon.com as multi-region capable. For the first year it played DVDs from all regions with no problem at all. Now all of a sudden it only plays the last region that I happened to play (which was a Region 4 DVD). DVDs from any other region just produces the message "Disc Loading" for ages, then "No disc". Yet it works perfectly well with Region 4 DVDs.
Anyone any idea what went wrong and how to fix it please?
