Seems quite often poor media causes theses problems, have you tried another disc, or changed brands?

It does not like your disc...........
Is your burner a dual format ie + and - or just a +?

And if it is single format, are you sure you are using the correct format?

What version of dvd decrypter are you using?
What disc are you using an R or RW (+or-)?, and have you tried the other format?
If it is RW, have you completely wiped it ie FULL format?
And if so with what software?

try downloading this little tool to give us more info on your drive. It can tell what format your drive supports.
If you put your blank in it will also tell what format your blank is.
http://www.dvdinfopro.com/

When you open this program at the bottom click the arrow and pick your burn drive. At the top click the drive icon and tell us what it says under the drive supported write features.
Now stick your blank into the drive and and click the media icon at the top and tell us what it says.

I did a google on the device in your error report and the closest match was a DVD+RW dual layer not dual format burner.
There are two formats for blank DVD. One is DVD+R and the other is DVD-R. Some drives are +R and some are -R and some are both. In a +R drive you can only burn +R media and in a -R drive you can only burn -R media.

Thanks for the info. You were right it is dual layer not dual format. SO i installed DVDINFOPro and it reads - and + but it does not write to -. So now that i obviosly have a bunch of - disks is there anything i can do with them? And how do i not make the mistake of buying them because I have never seen anything about plus or negative on the label for the dvds, not that i was looking hard.

You can buy your discs at a good company like newegg or meritline. Make sure they are "branded". And get a good brand like Ridata 4x +R, or verbatim. Ritek G04 is a great disc but it's -R so that won't help.

Meritline has Ridata 4x +R for under .50 each with free shipping(I have used over 400 of these with only one bad disc, which they replaced!). believe me, the brand is as important as the format. Buy quality media.

GO VOLS !

It is a mistake that is VERY common to make, I have done it in the past and I am sure many others have aswell..........

The -r discs you have left, can you take them back to your supplier and exchange them, if so then that would be the easiest, again they should realise a mistake has been made and swap them for the correct format type..................

As bigorange has stated, correct format and high quality media make the burns go sooooo smooth.......Good luck..........

Is this your drive by any chance http://support.ap.dell.com/docs/storage/p72538/en/intro.htm
