Thanks everyone.

Updated from 3.0U to latest update through the internet.
Performed update, and it works.
I played through a whole classic mode with Samus without any problems.

For anyone who's wondering, I got 1.9G NTSC Wii + Wiikey.

Hopefully we will have originals running soon with the 1.9x update :)

The wiikey team are already distributing new wiikeys with the new firmware loaded...

Plus wiikey.cn is back up.

Fingers crossed :)

Just can't play other regions because there is no Config yet!

It says my system needs to update but because my Wii has been modified the update might render my Wii useless.

Do I need to do this update? Can anyone help me here?

vypurr

First run the update from your wii system menu. Then put in the disc. Then run the update it asks you to do!

Quote:
3.2 was released after mastering of SSBB @ 3.1.

3.2 is not necessary for the playing of SSBB

The info that comes with 3.2 is:

"This update does not affect any prominently-used features or menus; however it does provide some behind the scenes updates that will improve system performance"

Firmwares can not be overwritten by lower firmwares so 3.1 can not overwrite 3.2 and brawl will not downgrade the firmware if the console is at 3.2

There is no known reason not to go to 3.2 as it, at the very least, helps avoid bricking with out of region games.

I have 3.2(E) and no problems with any backup on wiikey 1.9g

This is the reply I got when asking about the updates. Although my wii is connected to the internet, I have not yet updated it to 3.2. I only updated using the disk. Neither update will brick your wii.

I've seen a few posts like vypurr's. I'm wondering why after updating a wii from the wii system menu (3.2), why would the disk say you need an update from the disk (3.1e)? I'm assuming the 3.2 update does not include everything the 3.1 update does (including the ability to play dual-layered disks)?

That's my quote m8 so I'll try and explain - SSBB contains a game specific update as well as 3.1 which is why it tells you it needs to update. I am unsure as to whether this game specific relates to DL only or as well, but it's something that occurs with other games as well sometimes, SMG, for example.

Hi guys,

I've got a PAL wii trying to run the SSBB NTSC iso file. According to vypurr, I do not need to run WiiBrickBlocker on the ISO because the disc requires an update? Is it ok to run the PPF updater for no updates from NTSC to PAL?

I've tried burning one disc which failed. The method I used was RegionFrii (game mismatch), WiiBrickBlocker completed and PPF updater. My wii just gave me a: "An error occured" black screen.

Any help would be apprecaited. Thanks!

Yeah I did that - you do get an update still but it's the game update and not the firmware. I was already at 3.2E anyway.

Have I been bricked?

My Wii can read GC discs only to the point of the main Wii screen. Once I click on that window to access the disc and then hit start, I immediately get the error: "eject disc and turn off". A week ago it was even worse. It wasn't reading my GC discs at all.

This of course includes Wiikey discs.

Please help.

Bricked means your Wii is inoperable. Semi-bricked means you can't access your Wii settings. I don't get why you ask this here cos this is about SSBB?

I mention it here because it is the result of trying to get SSBB to work over the last 3 weeks.

My backup of SSBB is working fine, and I will not use this update until I absolutely have to, but will this 1.9s Wiikey update help anyone with their backups or is it mostly just a fix for the original dual layer disk(s) and some other bugs and fixes?

Slightly off the thread topic, Wiinewz says this is most likely the last update for the Wiikey. The Wiikey page does not mention this fact. Can anyone speculate as to whether SSBB may be the last big release Wiikey owners may be able to play?

Success Story.

WII - NTSC 3.2U (also mini update from SSBB retail disc)
WiiKEY - 1.9s USA, 3x read, Region free - off
SSBB - Retail NTSC Disc

ISO-RIP
Attempt 1 - Fail
Reason - Used friidump 0.3.0, didn't read enough.

Attempt 2 - Pass
Drive - LG GDR-8162B
Friidump 0.4.0 - Approx 10 hrs.
Image size - 7.92 GB (8,511,160,320 bytes)

821.91 MB/h, Dump completed successfully!

Operation took 35830.38 seconds

Burn
Media - Verbatim 8x DVD+R DL

Attempt 1 - Fail
Burned using Nero 7.2.0.3 @ 4x no manual layer break
Reason - I burn all my other games at 8x and they work fine so i figured I would try 4x
Result - Error #001 - Unauthorizied device detected

Attempt 2 - Pass
Burned using ImgBurn 2.4.0.0 @ 2.4x no manual layer break
Played for 2.5 hours now, adventure, classic, multiplayer and wifi all work, movies run fine. If anything the black loading screen at the beginning is shorter than on the retail disc.

Ah well - all the main topics are stickied for a reason - If bricks only occurred with SSBB then they'd only be dealt with in this thread. Because they are not and also because some ppl don't even know what a brick is there is a stickied thread for that.

Your question at this time regarding problems reading GC disks is more likely to be dealt with elsewhere tbh... I'd suggest here.

I've been hearing rumors that the 1.9s update has a built-in feature to block updates from the disk. Can anyone confirm this? I dont want to update until theres a config disk so import games will still work.

If you're asking if it will block SSBB update then I don't see why not - if you mean generally then that's was it "says on the tin" m8 - and the config is out if you look in the thread about it....

I have done every update including 1.9s and 3.2u. I have used three different types of media and have dozens of discs that aren't working.

I was having problems with GC games but now it's working.

Do I need to have my Wii cleaned?
