bit torrent, norton firewall?

hey i read about seven pages of the bit torrent router but didnt really understand and wasnt sure if it applied to a software firewall.

anyway my question
windows xp
motorola sb 4200 cable modem
norton systemworks 2004 firewall antivirus
downloading using basic bit torrent, from suprnova.org not com or net

im a total moron when it comes to configuring these things so a basic english step by step guide would be extremely helpful. please dont just write and write i will get way confused just dot points like click here do that

norton is known for blocking majorly good stuff, get rid of it

thanks for the advice, after trying hard with norton i think i might throw in the towel.

is there any firewall software that you or any of the other members would suggest that would be worth getting?
