DVD X-Copy Express Recording

I am using X-Copy express (old version with a decoder), a Maxell DVD-R 4.7 GB disk, and a Sony DRX-530UL hard drive. The movie records to the hard but will not copy to the blank Maxell DVD. I do not receive an error message, it just won't start. Any thoughts? Thanks,
