Hello,
I just installed a No Solder/Swap Magic combo mod chip for PS2 V7 from modchipstore.com. The initial installation was quite easy, or so I thought. After booting up the first time, the playstation would refuse to recognize any CDs/DVDs/games and would always go to the default PS2 Browse screen. Using the Swap Magic discs had no effect either, I'd get the Browse screen everytime and no disc would be recognized.
So I opened the box again and removed the chip, putting the cables back in where they used to be. Now I boot up - NOTHING! No power lights, no fan - NOTHING! I even tried to put the mod chip back and then took it out again, still NOTHING! It just doesn't start anymore!
If anyone has an idea what could be happening please let me know! If i've busted the PS2, is there any place I could get it repaired?
Thanks for your help in advance.

first things to check is that you haven't damaged/dislodged any ribbon cables, then check the internal fuses

Thanks for your reply devilhunt.
I checked repeatedly for dislodged cables, all cables are properly attached.
I'm not sure how to check for damage to the cables or internal fuses. I've hardly touched anything accept the 2 cables I had to replace. Can you recommend any tools or sites that will help me in this effort?
Thanks again,
t.

Thanks for your reply.
I've opened it up a few times now to verify that none of the ribbons are loose, including the one connected to the eject/reset button.
When I turn on the power from the back the fan does not turn on. I used to be able to see the LEDs light up in the reset/eject buttons, but I don't see that either now. Pressing the buttons has no effect either. The power is definitely supplied, but the PS2 doesn't start.
Could this mean the power/eject ribbon cable is damaged? Or could it be something bigger?
Thanks again,
-t.

I know this sounds stupid ... but when cleaning my system I've done it a dozen times...
Make sure teh ribbon cable is facing the right way... I've put mine in upside down... and get the same as you have now...

Hello all,
It finally worked! It was a problem with a broken eject/reset cable. I replaced that cable with a new one and everything works, including the mod chip.
Thanks everyone for your inuts. Hope this helps anyone else with the same problem.
