Hey ppl,
I ive read sum guides on the net about how to install the mc exploit by making the install CD but instead of burning the image made by PS2CDGen inject it onto the PS2 hard drive using one of the image dumping tools (such as WinHIIP) but I get an error when I run it via HDloader, it says "ERROR: Failed to load CDVD.IRX". Im sooooooo close to installing this so any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks

I dont think the exploit works like that. Even if you have the official hard drive (only this can be used as a memory card) I still dont know how u can run it. And the programs are used to send games via pc, it wasnt meant to send any other files. I wouldnt say youre close to installing it. I dont think its possible even if you did get it on the official sony hard drive.

I was wondering did you use the PS2Menu-K version rather than the original PS2Menu.It says it right from the guide also:I myself put PS2MENU-K.ELF as BOOT.ELF and loaded EXECFTPS from the harddisk.

To be honest I dont no which verison of PS2menu I put on the image since I thought it would not make a difference. I guess thats y im havin this problem (due to not following it 100%). Later on he gives an updated verison of this procedure but he injects EXECFTPS onto the hard disk and the FTP's all the files onto the MC which makes sense and is probably easier but I dont know how to find out the IP address of the PS2. Im thinkin you could connect the PS2 to the Gaming network with the network disc and then use CMD to find the address (by using "ipconfig/ all" command). Since im using ICS to connect to the internet with my PS2 but Im not 100% sure if it could identify it like that. Any thoughts?

Oh another thing navi95 when you go into your KL.DAT config file with microsoft word or opening it up with a text document. It could still have this in there:
O=mc0:\BADATA-SYSTEM\BOOT.ELF;PS2Menu file used to boot the exploit
You could try going into the KL.DAT config file and changing it to this:
O=hdd0\BADATA-SYSTEM\BOOT.ELF;PS2Menu and so forth, just switch instead of having mc,use hdd I think.
Then switch from using PS2Menu V2.6 to the Menu-K boot ffile right.I hope this helps you out,and hope you get iit to work.I would help you out more with this, but I don't have the harddrive man :(.

Thanx for that comment,
I have a PAL PS2 and im pretty sure there is a "O=hdd0\BADATA-SYSTEM" dir compared to the NTSC one (just cant remember what it is or where I saw it :()
I'll give it a try anyway, no harm in doing so.

This is hopeless, i cant get it to install or get EXECFTPS to frun via HDloader @ all, just get the black screen of death :s ( i dont think EXECFTPS is supported to be run from the HDD0.
Any suggestions any1? I PAL SCPH-5003 ps2, only 4 months old.
Could any1 from the UK be willing to do this for me by me sending my MC to you? sounds lazy but I dont think it would work without a proper way of booting CD-Rs despite that forum sayin otherwise, i dont get it how they got it to work cuz the independant install was designed to be run off a CD so how could injecting it via HDloader change all the files dir in the install files so that it will no to look for the files on the HDD and not the CDrom?
it would be MUCH appreciated.

YAY!!!
i finally got it 2 work. I downloaded execFTP 0.68 and then created an image of it using CDGenPS2 (changed the LDA of system.cnf to 12231). Injected that using HDL_Dump and then ran it. Used FlashFXP to connect to it and Viola!
I am now a happy man.
Im using ElfLauncher to run my elf via my HDD (i created a 128mb partition using DMS HDD Utilities prog). All i want to find out now is how to transfer mem card saves onto the HDD.
Ive tried looking in the MC/0 dir but i cant tell which folder is for what game.
O well.
Thanx for the people that helped me in this thread, much appreciated.
