Need help with playing Divx,Xvid on VCD DVD Player

Hi, I would to like to know how and what program to use to convert DivX,Xvid to something that will work on this DVD player and fit on a normal 700mb CD-R.

PANASONIC DVD-S27EBS DVD Player - PAL & NTSC
54 MHz/10-bit video DAC. Multi-format playback. DVD-video DVD RAM/DVD-R CD CD-R/RW SVCD VCD JPEG MP3 WMA and Hightmat level 2. 1-touch AV enhancer. RGB output via SCART terminal.

I tried to use Cucusoft Avi-VCD converter but it made a 700mb file 1gb.

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.
