DVD - AVI/mpg without compression

Hi

I need to somehow get a perfect copy of a DVD in either .Mpg or .AVI format at full 720 x 576 res without any compression so I can import it into Adobe for use in a project.

Ripping is fine and I end up with perfect image, but it is the next stage of combining the vobs into a massive mpg/avi file

Have tried various encoding packages and they all seem to do lower res. any suggestions - am sure I'm not missing something obvious

Any help appreciated.
