On the Usenet in alt.internet.p2p, Message-ID: <ebatl01rp26oo6rdjj79pat9855gqd53sc@4ax.com> this was written. I think this forum at www.edonkey.com is a better place to ask the questions and as I too am interested in getting to the bottom of this then I have copied the opening posts and added my remarks.

Last I saw was that Opera 7.XX (it is currently on 7.54) had a new section in opera6.ini called [Trusted Protocols] and which was automatically filled in by entries made in Opera | Preferences | Programs & Paths | Protocols.

However, when I used a protocol name of ed2k and a program entry of
C:\Program Files\eDonkey2000\eDonkey2000.exe
then it does not work.

So I have been putting server.met files into eDonkey/eMule by either saving the server.met file into the eDonkey/eMule folder (do I need to restart eDonkey?) or alternatively by writing "glist" followed by the name of the server.met link which is usually something like this.
http://2z4u.de/hx92md43/micro/server.met
into the command line at the bottom of the Server page in eDonkey.

I don't know how to solve this so the process is as automatic in Opera as in other browsers but below are my observations.

Some server.met web sites use javascript to add server.met to eDonkey like this one http://ed2k.2x4u.de/index.html which has:
Quote:
javascript:addEmule('http://2z4u.de/f6v0etki/micro/server.met')
but others websites like this one http://troniac.de.vu/index.html uses a different format for its "Add server.met" link which looks like this:

Quote:
ed2k://|serverlist|http://194.95.66.20/~tgrobe2s/35c45590/micro/server.met|/
To be honest I have no idea how to fix up either of these so they work in Opera 7.X. So if anyone has a mod for Opera 7.5 which allows server.met files to update eDonkey then I would also be interested.
