V7 and Matrix Infinity - problem booting games

Hi, I just installed a Matrix Infinity in my PAL V7 PS2. After putting it back together it boots fine, shows the Sony-screen, spinning lights, and the normal menu.

If i hold the start button, the screen shows 'DISABLED v1.2', so apparently the chip reacts. However.. When I try to boot stuff, both original games and the Infinity update CD I made, it just shows the 'Matrix v1.2' logo, jumps to a black screen, and stays there.

If I disable the chip, as mentioned, and insert a game, it goes to the browser, and shows a PS2-game. If I press start I get a black screen, and it returns to the browser after a second. If i try to boot the PS2 with the Infinity UpdateCD i get that red screen telling me to insert a PS2 disc.

Anyone have any suggestions? I haven't bothered opening it yet, thought I'd get some tips first. Apparently the chip is working in some way, since it reacts .. a bit. :)

I saw some threads recommending people to use the right type of wire. I didn't get any wires with my chip, so I used the wires from a SCSI flat cable lying around. Could they be too thin?

I also saw someone mentioning similiar behavious when having a dirty lens.. Is it possible that I've touched the lens when opening the PS2? If so, anyone got any good tips?

Hope someone has any good suggestions, thanks a lot in advance!
