I have been reading different tutorials and most of them state i need the original game to play. i have swap magic 3.0, and i and practiced the "swap method", but before i try all of this stuff. maybe someone can answer this first.

Well first of all I think you need to read the rules of the forum. I may be mistaken but the answering of or questioning there in of illegal activities is strictly prohibited. So I doubt you will get an answer to your question. You should really go buy the games and then back them up.
The world is what you make of it. Not what the world makes of you.

I think he means that he's new to "downloading" games to the HDD and that he lost his original copy, eh?

Ok to me it sounds like you have worked with real backups of PS2 games. If you downloaded a dull PS2 game to fit on a dvd, you just burn it onto a dvd-r with dvd decryptor at the lowest possible speed to reduce the chance of any problems. Then u can use the dvd just like a backup. If u downloaded a dvdrip, well...that's slightly different and will post again if it is. :)
and...
Ursac please read this from the rules regarding piracy

But according to tutorials i have read the original game is needed. I have accomplished this using the swap method. But I no longer have the original game in this case, so how do I boot the backup. No the swap 3.0 was given to me by freiend to see how it worked.

as long as you have the original swap magic, any original ps2 game (must be bigger than the backup you are trying to load) will work.

Okay let me ask this, if i go to a site and download a game from there is there a way to play that game on the ps2? Or do i NEED the original to play that game? And if can play that game, what tools would i need and what steps do i follow.

That's what they try to stray away from......piracy is not legal and they don't condone that here.

It would be easier but...can u or do u know someone who can solder without messing up your board for free?
I just use a fliptop because I don't want to solder. Eventually..I may get a new PlaystationTWO and a chip if one is made, and sell my fliptop ps2 on ebay or something.
