getting linux on ps2 HDD without buying kit.... possible?

umm ok theres a linux kit for the ps2 http://playstation2-linux.com/Linux_kit.jpg
and i would like to get it on my HDD without buying the kit for 2 reasons 1 is i have everything BUT the software (what i need help with and is freeware) and 2 is thay stoped making the NTSC version

so question one is there away to install linux on the HDD using my PC or DVD back up so that it will run on my ps2 without any mod's ...try n keep ryply instructions 70% n00b lmao n let me know what will be needed

and question 2 is where can i download the software for it? n let me know what will be needed(if its possible to get linux on it)

ps2 HDD is not being used so i might as well run linux on it :p
