I've got a Ricoh 10x CD-RW that died on me recently. My house lost power while I was in the middle of a full erase using CD-R Win 5 and now the thing is dead.

I've had some feedback saying that the Table of Contents of the disc is corrupt so the disc needs to be reverted to its original state. Thing is though, the CD-RW cannot be re-erased or burned to, even though every app I use says the disc is empty.

I've been told that it is possible to boil the CD-RW to melt the compound gel inside, thus reverting the CD-RW to a factory state, but this sounds highly dodgy.

Anybody heard of this, or ideas on how to fix the disc?

Cheers

Put it in the microwave for an interesting light show followed by a nice fractal pattern accross the surface

[buy a new one :) ]
