Hi, for those of you that like to store or backup things on CDs should know this. Never use Acer brand blank CDs to do the backup, especially if you want your backup to last longer than 4 years. Acer brand blank CDs degrade after 3-4 years. I?m sure you know that if a CD degrades it is useless, especially if the degrading spreads towards the data region of the CD. Use other different brands of CDs to do the backup, don?t use Acer brand blank CDs, not even Acer brand re-writeable CDs, they all suck. Also don?t even think of trying to get a replacement for these degraded (faulty) CDs, they don?t give a dam. I?ve contacted them twice via the Acer official site e-mail address, but they never reply (after 2 weeks). If you like to take a look at the pictures please go to this site
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/AcerCDRSux/ you have to log into your yahoo account first then click join group. After that you can view the pictures in the photo section on the left hand side. If you don?t have a yahoo account just create one randomly and then join group, after that you can view the pictures.
One more thing you should know about, all these CDs that have degraded have been kept at optimum storage condition. That means it?s stored in a Cool, dry, dark place. Also the CDs are all in near perfect condition, hardly a scratch, no finger prints, no oil smears.
