DVD with episodes recorded from TV

I normally record TV programs from TV onto DVD-RAM, copy to my computer, change the file extension from .VOB to .MPG and then cut edit using TMPGEnc DVD Author. This works well, playing the disc on my recorder/player I can select either episode. Transfering the contents of the disc to my computer I see only one .VOB file and this contains only one episode. Where is the second episode? I would like to join it to the first episode.
