Thanks in advance to any help ... I'm going insane with this. Here is my setup:

PS2 (of course!)
Max Drive software w/ USB pen drive (I have the 16MB Max, but I've been using my 128MB)
120GB HDD (thus far unformated; out of the box)
$ony Ethernet/Modem adaptor
$ony brand MC
PS1 Game: The Dukes of Hazzard: Racing For Home (SLUS_008.59)
PS1 Game: The Dukes of Hazzard II: Daisy Dukes It Out (SLUS_012.43)
*** Neither of these games are on any of the title.db lists ***

Okay, I've seriously tried EVERYTHING that I can gather from these pages and all of the links that I've found from them, only to not get this working.

So far, almost everything I've tried has resulted in the Dukes games booting normally, exept for one method, in where I receive a black screen -- but only with the first Dukes game, as the second will always boot normally. The way I am getting the black screen is that I added the above SLUS's to the title.db file within TITLE#5 from one of the sites (seriously, I can't remember ... my brain is fried!).

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE ... can someone please let me know what I have to do, and the order it has to be done, using the equiptment I have listed above??? I really hate to ask this, but I have seriously been at this all weekend with no results. I've read so many threads that they are all combining into one and I think it's hurting rather than helping. I'm sure there are others out there with my same situation.

Please note that I have an NTSC (US) PS2.

Some other questions:
* Do I need to have a swap card to flip the little pin on the PS2 tray with this Max Drive MC Exploit?
* Do I need to get the AR Max Evo instead? The Max Drive software only has MC Management, and no Media Player.
* Do I ever even need to burn any CDs to add exploits to the MC or HDD?
* Also, I've been deleting the System Config files from my MC before adding the new ones in Max Drive. Then I transfer the .max file to the MC (un-crushed, of course). However, after attempting my failed-boots, I end up with a second System Config file of about 5K that (I think) the PS2 is creating. Should this be deleted or saved along with my created file? I've tried both.

Thank you again for your help!!!!!!!

Sorry, I also forgot to ask:
* Is it necessary to still use the MAX-XPS Converter? Or does the new version of PS2 Save Builder work without having to do that (since there it is possible to load/save .max files)?

Thanks again!

Anyone out there that can help me ... please do! I'm starting to wonder if the whole issue is one of two things:
Either the fact that I have NTSC and all of these files are PAL???
* or *
That this won't work with the Max Drive softare ... that I need the AR Max software???
Thanks again ... I don't mean to continue to post to my own thread, but I really need help. Thanks!

WOOT WOOT! I FINALLY got the stuff to boot from the MC! I don't know why it didn't work before, but apparently I was confusing many different progams from all of the threads I read. I got back to the basics, and it was rather easy! he he he

transfering my first backup to the HDD right now to see if it works! I sure hope it was worth it to get my games to load faster!

FOR ANYONE WHO CARES:
I have an NTSC (US) version PS2, and bought the MAXDRIVE software (although I'm using my own USB pen drive), and I only used the following programs/files:
* NTSC Save Exploit for Max Drive *
(http://home.comcast.net/~avitus/wsb/html/view.cgi-home.html-.html)
--- use one of the five files to download ...all have different PS1 game IDs... I used Title#5 (but made my own title.db file because my game's id wasn't in there)
* PS2 Save Builder *
(http://www.wirelesssupplies.net/ps2/downloadnow.php?cat=downloads_1&file=1)
* Titleman Frontend * (http://www.wirelesssupplies.net/ps2/downloadnow.php?cat=downloads_1&file=7)

That's it! If I have time, I may right up a quick tutorial (if requested), but basically all I had to do was this:
* Run Titleman Frontend, and follow tutorial for creating a new Title.db file (if your game is not listed)
* Run PS2 Save Builder, open the NTSC Exploit ".xps" file that was downloaded, then drag my new Title.db file into it and overwrite it, then save as a new ".max" file
* Copy the ".max" to a USB Pen Drive, then insert into PS2
* Start MaxDrive software in PS2, delete the old "Your System Configuration" file from my MC, then uncrush the new one from the USB stick to the MC
* Now just pull the USB stick, insert the original PSX game, and restart the PS2
* It should boot to the MC and give you a menu system

HOPE I GOT EVERYTHING IN THIS SHORT TUTORIAL! I'm a noobie too .. but any questions I will answer if I can.

NOTE: This is so far working with a Maxtor 120GB HDD installed, and the game tested runs fine from the HDD. I haven't tested burned cd/dvd backups yet.

Insaneiam,

I have similar parts to the ones you mentioned above (40gb HD, Sony USB Drive 256MB, AR Max (no max drive since I read you could do it with other drives), Sony Ethernet/Modem adaptor, Sony brand MC,
PS1 Game: Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation (SLUS_008.85)

Going three days now on this project so I understand the burn...here's where I'm stuck:

On AR Max, I load up the memory card section with both the MC icon and the USB icon option selectable and the MC will show data but the USB never shows any files regardless of what I put on the USB pen. I also tried a 128MB Sony MagicGate that was plugged in to my camera an hooked up via the USB cord and nothing happens.

Sorry to bug you on the issue, but I figured I'd give it a try since I saw your name in another section regarding similar topics.

Hmm... well, I didn't really have any trouble with stuff not showing up on my USB stick (PNY Attache 128MB). You do have ".max" files that are on the USB, right? I haven't tried anything else, so you got me on that one. It may be possible that not all USB sticks work(?). I have not tried any other flash memory (like your camera).

Lemme know if you have been putting ".max" files on the USB stick, as that is the only reason I can think of why it wasn't showing up. I'm pretty new too. 8-)

If you still have trouble, then I can maybe send you a ".max" file with your TR: Last Revelation as the key disc. So if you don't get it, send me your email address, and I'll see what I can do.

Oh, another question... after you transfer files from the PC to the USB stick, do you "safely remove hardware" (This is WinXP for sure)??? There will be an icon down by the clock on the PC screen. I know some buds that have lost data by just pulling it out and not doing it "safely". That was plain old data, but maybe it got erased if you happened to do this.

Good luck and lemme know!

You need a .max file for any files to show up and I've said it on my forums many times but not here: Sometimes you have to wait if its a big file.. Playstation2 seems to use usb1?? Well anyway its slow, and when loading it from a digital camera, VERY slow, so take your time and after your usb key has finished flashing and its still not loaded, go back to the memory card menu, go to another card, then go back to the usb key and wait again, it should eventually show up if you've put together a max file correctly...
