I am using DVD Shrink 3.2 and DVD Decrypter to backup my DVDs, however the whole process takes about an hour per movie (which isnt bad), but I am wondering why I can't write the DVD faster. I have an 8x writable drive, and 8x DVD+R Ridata disks. If I set DVD Decrypter to anything above 4x speed it will not make it through the buring without an error. And even at 4x setting the highest it ever gets to is writing speed of 2.2x or 2.3x. Is there anything I can do to burn the disks faster and successfully?

I am using:
LITEON DVD-ROM LTD163D to read
NU DVDRW DDW-082 to write

DVD Shrink 3.2.0.15 to encode and compress
DVD Decrypter 3.5.1.0 to write

My system is 1.66 GHz

I am using Ritek Ridata 8x DVD+R disks

Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated.

I've read elsewhere that the NuTech burners had some problems that were cleared up by updating the firware.

Nero Info Tool will list what firmware version you have installed,

http://www.afterdawn.com/software/cdr_software/cdr_tools/nero_info_tool.cfm

And you can get the latest firmware from this site:

It says I have the Firmware "B370"

On the Firmware link it shows this:

NU DVDRW DDW-082 - B360, B361, B362, B364, B370, B373, B375, B377

I assuming that means "B377" is the newest version (aka the one I should use), but I just wanted to check with you first since, it says it could damage my drive if not done correctly.

Also, if I am supposed to update, what do you reccommend then? Should I try setting the burning speed to 8x again? Is there anything else I should do first?

Thanks a million for your help!

It looks like B377 is the one.

The only thing you need to do is follow any and all instructions carefully. Here's a link to NuTech's website - it may come in handy :)
