Here is my situation:
v7, with SwapMagic 3.2 CD and 2.0 CD, no-solder chip
My PS2 seems to loads all official games fine. It also loads SwapMagic CD 3.2 and DVD 2.0 just fine. Any disc that I have tried to burn, either CD or DVD, gives a "Please insert a sony playstation disc..." error. I have tried burning a CD which is supposed to be bootable (a HD prog) and had a friend try it and no luck with either their system or mine.
Could it be the media or my burner? I've tried using Khypermedia and TDK DVD and Memorex CD. I've tried burning with Nero, Alcohol 120, and Decryptor. I cleaned the PS2 lense. I'm wondering what else I can try? Thanks in advance!
I think so. Since I have the no-solder mod chip with SM, I thought all I had to do is insert the SM disc, then when it prompts me, I hit the eject button, put my game in, then hit X. I get purple border after that. As I said, I burned a "loading" program to CD that is supposed to be a bootable disc. Do I still need to use SM with that one?
you do not hit the eject button. you put SM in, then when it tells you you have to use the slide card to pop the tray open and put the burned copy in. you have to remove the front thing on the tray. hit the eject button, then turn the pc off. then on the bottom side of the tray unscrew that and remove the front panel, then put the screw back. now when you turn it on and put SM in, when it says load game you use the slide card to open it without hitting eject, then you just push it closed with the new game in there and hit x.
or if you have a mod chip in there i think there is usually crazy instructions with it, like hold down for 7 seconds then load the tray real fast, and it automatically closes in 3 or something like that.
