Here is what i want to do.
- Download my Pressed retail games to an 80GB hard drive so that i don't have to lug my games around.
- Play the games from the hard-drive
I found out about the program HDLoader, and i downloaded a 'free' version. But after using search i've come across differing tutorials and such. Some are for Dvd-r backups and call for opening my ps2 or using some kind of key, other say that hdloader doesn't work, and others tell me i need to use a memory card... I am so confused.
So, what do i need to do to be able to download my pressed games to my hdd and then play them from the hdd without the original disks.
I have:
Sony PS2 Unmodded (5001 version?)
Copy of 'free' HDLoader on CR-R
Network Adapter
Maxtor 80Gb HDD
1 8Mb Memory Card (with some saves on it)
PS2 Games
You or someone you know must be able to boot backups from their PS2. That is the only way you can load non-original discs. Using the mem-card exploit with HDLoader on a modded PS2 will install HDLoader to a mem card, and allow HDLoader to boot, using an original PS1 disc. What all this means is that after the exploit is on the mem card, you can put the mem card in any PS2 and boot with the PS1 disc to HDLoader without using a mod. Its a catch-22. Your mod can be a chip, swapdisc with fliptop or slidecard, Gameshark?, etc. If you have a Gameshark that uses the USB drive,
when you say 'boot with the PS1 disc to HDLoader without using a mod', do you mean that i only have to swap cd's once in order to get the exploit onto the memory card? or do i still have to startup with the ps1 disc in and then switch them?
Once the exploit is on your mem card, you dont need a mod to boot. You just boot with the orginal PS1 game and it will take you to your drive. Then you can play a game without using a mod.
