Playback only freezes on some of the files

I've been burning dvd/.vob successfully using nero. Now I find only some of the files on the disk play back choppy and/or freezes. It's almost as if the file quality itself is poor. The files play fine as mpegs after I've completed the editing using MPEG-VCR. But after re-authoring using DVD-lab they are choppy. (both the file on the hard drive and on the burned dvd. -- Any suggestions?
