HP 100j DVD+RW burner & Best DVD Brands to Use??

I have an HP 100j DVD+RW burner and I tried to make a back up using Sony DVD+R DVDs. The burner apparently did not like these DVDs and gave me messgaes such "No Writer Detected" or "Servo Failure Error". When I used a Maxell DVD+RW, there was no problem at all. I heard some burners are finicky about the brand of DVDs they accept.

Can anybody give me advice on what brand of DVD+R works best or works at all on the HP 100j DVD+RW burner?

i found out the hard way as well....this DVD burner was solely made to burn only DVD+RW and CD-R/RW media. It was not built to burn anything else.
